Absolutely. I do miss the short time when people just used the things we now call social media for fun but maybe it is okay the way it is right now.

100% this. I tried to write my own little ActivityPub thing in the past and I just couldn't get Mastodon to understand the posts, so in the end I scrapped the whole thing. A test suite would be great.
