I’ve been using fediverse stuff (Mastodon and, most recently, Calckey – I’m just going to use “Mastodon” as shorthand here, purists can bite me) for over a year now.

I think that's the first time I read "Maybe ActivityPub is not a good idea because it brings Mastodons toxicity into otherwise calmer spaces" but it's not as far-fetched as I thought it would be and it's not a good sign for ActivityPub.
The whole problem space of social norms, audience etc. is super interesting, especially in spaces like the IndieWeb and the Fediverse which are by definition fractured and diverse.
Someone give this man a year and funding.
Jesus Christ, what is wrong with these people
Great. Well done, Discord.
I think this is the last post I link to on the topic of Social Media bridges. It is a really good one, though.
I mean I host stuff there, they're great
This is pretty neat. Maybe I need to use Flipboard again.
I haven't laughed so hard in weeks
It's a bit sad but yes. Sure, there's Mastodon but even there it doesn't just feel the same.
They're talking about wordpress.com, which is a bit mindbloggling.
Honestly: yes. I just feel bad for people who haven't found their group chats, yet.
We might need a conversation platform for only the cool people. Globally.
I guess that's where things will be heading around the Fediverse in the long run.
Let's see how long it takes until the enlightenment
The first point is slowly being pushed against, which is good, mostly.
100% this. I tried to write my own little ActivityPub thing in the past and I just couldn't get Mastodon to understand the posts, so in the end I scrapped the whole thing. A test suite would be great.
Most sane people don’t enjoy seeing a bunch of random bursts of text from strangers one after the other, but those that do really really love it.
