The downfall of Metafilter is pretty sad. I'm not surprised, though - it got so tedious.

This reminds me a lot of the old(-ish) joke "Punks are people who act mean but are nice while hippies are people who act nice but are mean." MetaFilter is very much a hippie place these days.
